MARTIN Peaple has set Swindon College Old Boys a target of picking up their first win of the season as the club begin a run of three home games on the bounce tomorrow.

Old Boys sit bottom of Southern Counties North having failed to win following victory at the end of last season, but have a good chance to bring an end to that record when they host Wallingford, Wootton Bassett and Drifters in the three weekends left before Christmas.

While chairman Peaple would also be happy with an accumulation of bonus points in the three weeks before Christmas, what he really wants is the club’s first victory and the chairman believes tomorrow’s game with Wallingford is a good chance to get it.

“We’ve got a run now until Christmas of three home games on the trot and we really need to try and take advantage of that,” he said.

“Being at home is always good because it means the other team is having travel, so from those three games I would expect us to maybe pick up a few bonus points and maybe one win.

“Maybe if we pull something out then maybe we can get two wins and this weekend could be one of those.

“We have the second team at home as well this weekend so there is no pressure on players and finding enough to travel.

“We have earmarked this one as a game we can win and if we can do it, it would be a real boost for the club going into the break.”

Elsewhere in the division Royal Wootton Bassett host Drifters and coach Alan Low knows it is vital that his team pick up a home win against a side that are just a place above them in the standings.

“This is a big game for us because we are in a similar position in the league and we can get really close to them if we take the points,” he said.

“Our performances have picked up a little bit in the last few weeks and we are playing pretty well.

“We want to finish really positively going into Christmas and with his one and then a game against Old Boys the following weeks we have a good chance to do that.”
