BRATTON booked the last remaining spot in the second round of this Briken Motors & AM Print & Copy sponsored A&B Cup after they ended the hopes of third division Polenez Westbury.

Their reward for their 5-4 extra-time win at Leighton Sports Centre, is a return to Westbury in two wee'ks time for a meeting with top flight leaders North Bradley.

Bratton led through a Chris Storey penalty before Polenez leveled via a first for the club from Bartosz Koget making it 1-1 at the break.

Polenez then took the lead from the penalty spot, Modou Abraham putting them in front. Bratton response was swift and they drew level courtesy of a second of the afternoon from Storey who was on hand to hammer a Dave Jones cross into the roof of the net.

A second from Abraham looked to have won it for Polenez but an amazing effort from Neil Gordon tie the scores for Bratton and take the contest to extra time.

Polenez regained the lead when Wayne Pearman struck home another quality goal, but any hopes the underdogs had of causing an upset were short lived as Neil Gordon headed Bratton back on level terms.

A 25-yard strike from James Sweetman won the astonishing game for the villagers.

Semington Magpies 2 Westbury United Reserves 3 AET

THE all-first division clash at Littlemarsh between Ricky King’s in-form Semington Magpies and Jason Edwards high flying Westbury United Reserves side was billed as one of the eye-catching ties of the second round matches.

The game lived up to all expectations helped by King’s own heroics between the sticks as Semington came from two down to take the game to extra time where a penalty from Marc Lanfear earned Westbury a 3-2 win.

Westbury led 1-0 at the interval thanks to a Gary Tugwell but the margin would have been greater had it not been for King who was in brilliant form as he kept the deficit to the odd goal.

King was powerless to deny Westbury their second which came when Marc Lanfear set up Conner McKay to smash home and make it 2-0.

Within two minutes of Westbury doubling their lead, Semington were back in the contest, Matty Jenkins finding the net. With less than two minutes remaining Dan Rimmer equalised to take the game into extra time where shortly after kick off Semington’s Nigel Hall gave away the penalty that led to Lanfear firing home from the spot to seal victory for Westbury.
