A FEROCIOUS second-half performance saw Minety claim top spot in Dorset & Wilts One North as they deposed leaders Chippenham 2nd.
They took the lead when centre Dale Langdown’s angled run saw him cross, but the home side’s tendency to give away penalties was a feature of the first half and gave Chippenham two penalties for a one-point lead at half time.
Minety’s fierce scrummaging helped turn things around in the second half, with the back row of Stephen Brown, Gareth Peirce and Gethin Roberts everywhere They Minety regained the lead thanks to Peirce, who picked up from the back of a five-metre scrum and powered over.
Inside centre Jack Ward stretched the lead with a shimmy and 20-metre dash through Chippenham’s defence before adding the conversion.
Victory was wrapped up when Chippenham failed to gather a loose ball which was hacked on, allowing prop Will North to drop on it over the line, Ward adding the extras.
