SEAN Millwaters was impressed with the way his Supermarine players naviagted their way around Calne’s spoiling tactics in their 33-5 victory on Saturday.

The South Marston side went into the Wiltshire derby looking to bounce back from their 12-11 defeat to Bradford-on-Avon the previous week, with a hat-trick from Matty Dickens and tries from Dan Taylor and Alex Robinson securing a routine win.

Millwaters admitted some of his side’s play was ugly at times but couldn’t fault his players as Marine moved themselves up to third in the table.

“We set ourselves a target of a bonus point win and that’s what we got, so we have to be pleased with that,” he said.

“It wasn’t pretty but a lot of that was down to the way Calne spoil what you are trying to do at time. We achieved our target and the five tries we got were good although the rugby in between was probably a little bit ugly.

“Calne didn’t really have a gameplan as such and tried to spoil our ball, but although we didn’t play at our best we managed to get around it well enough and come away with a good win.”

Millwaters also praised his kicker Stu Dawson, who converted four of Marine’s five tries at the weekend, and also revealed his new nickname.

“He’s know as ‘Stu the Boot’ now, and the reason for that is when we went down to East Dorset they made reference to an ex-player of theirs called ‘Stu the Boot’ and said our Stu was the best kicker they have seen since him,” Millwaters said.

“We wind him up quite a lot now and call him that, but he backs that up with some good points and is worth 10 points a game for us.”
