FORMER Vulcan pilot Stefano Episcopo came out on top at Cirencester seniors’ final competition of 2013.

With the course in great condition and the weather fair, a host of the club’s top seniors competed in a novel event which only allowed three clubs, one of which had to be a putter, over 15 holes.

Episcopo was playing off a handicap of 21 and used his limited weaponry to great effect with a total of 31 points.

The best gross round of the day was by nine handicapper Evan Drayton, whose 30 points won Division One. Second place in Division One was taken by in form player John Hall with 29 points, from Michael Helyer and Dave Marshal who both ended with the same score.

In Division Two, three players, David Golding, John Slaven, Robin Johnson; scored 30 points and were placed second, third and fourth respectively on countback scoring.

The ‘Amazing Grace’ trophy for the highest scoring player over the age of 80, was won by Tony Lester who just squeezed into this category having celebrated octogenarian status only a few days ago.
