8:19pm

That's about it for this evening. For full reports and reaction on this weekend's games, see the Adver tomorrow.

8:18pm

EPL RESULTS

Manchester 6 Peterborough 4, Basingstoke 5 Sheffield 4 (after PSO).

7:50pm

Time to seek some reaction from the Cats camp.

7:50pm

Kuuluvainen is Telford's man of the match.

7:50pm

Say what you like, Swindon have been great entertainment this weekend. As a footnote, if Telford finish bottom of the table this season I will be amazed. So improved on what they started the season with.

7:48pm

Kostal is Swindon's man of the match.

7:47pm

Stunning and remarkable. A frantic final few seconds saw Watt blaze over before Pekkarinen smashed hopefully towards the crease, but the puck found its way away from danger.

7:46pm

RESULT

Telford 7 Wildcats 6.

7:45pm

Lyle pulled...

7:45pm

GOAL! Telford 7 Wildcats 6, 58.57

Unbelievable. Pekkarinen gets forward and blasts high into the right corner from Nell and Kostal. What a game!

7:43pm

Good save Lyle from Kuuluvainen.

7:41pm

Just under two minutes left.

7:40pm

GOAL! Telford 7 Wildcats 5, 56.55

Are Wildcats going to win and lose 7-5 in the same weekend? It's a ripper of a slapshot from Dan Scott that restores the two-goal advantage. Assists McKenzie and Salem.

7:37pm

I know last night's game was fantastic, but this isn't far off.

7:36pm

Sandvik sends a wristshot a yard wide.

7:36pm

GOAL! Telford 6 Wildcats 5, 54.57

Telford give up the puck cheaply in the neutral zone and Hoog flicks to Nell who sends a glorious shot in off the iron. A cracking goal. There's still time...

7:33pm

A rare quiet spell.

7:31pm

Just over seven minutes to go.

7:30pm

PENALTY KILLED

7:29pm

Big save Lyle.

7:27pm

TIGERS POWERPLAY

Nell is called for the third time tonight. This time it's boarding.

7:26pm

Eleven minutes left.

7:25pm

GOAL! Telford 6 Wildcats 4, 46.33, PP

Well, maybe hold fire on thoughts of a comeback for now. McKenzie, who has had a really good game by the way, finally gets a presentable chance as he scoots in from the right and the Telford man beats Lyle low.

7:20pm

TIGERS POWERPLAY

Stevie Whitfield penalised for high-sticks.

7:19pm

Around 15 minutes left.

7:18pm

Exhausting stuff here at Telford Ice Rink.

7:15pm

GOAL! Telford 5 Wildcats 4, 41.26

Kostal bangs in his hat-trick goal. The comeback is on. Assists for Sandvik and Smith.

7:14pm

7:14pm

Right. Nineteen minutes and two goals needed. Here we go.

7:13pm

PENALTY KILLED

7:12pm

THIRD PERIOD UNDER WAY

7:11pm

The players are back out.

7:08pm

We will be back under way in a matter of minutes.

7:05pm

7:03pm

EPL LATEST

Basingstoke 2 Sheffield 3, Manchester 4 Peterborough 2, Guildford 0 Bracknell 2.

7:00pm

7:00pm

I think Telford have this game nailed. They have been the better team but I've been wrong before and I will be wrong again.

6:59pm

6:58pm

Four goals in seven minutes and a 3G dump was not particularly helpful I must say. However, we're all up to date now. Telford lead 5-3 and they deserve it. Referee Boardman is coming in for plenty of stick from the home fans.

6:56pm

Nell still has 1.05 of his penalty to serve when we resume.

6:56pm

END OF THE SECOND PERIOD

6:55pm

TIGERS POWERPLAY

Nell binned for slashing.

6:55pm

Swindon call a timeout.

6:53pm

GOALS! Telford 5 Wildcats 3, 34.20 and 37.41

Timo Kuuluvainen gets both of them and this match is back in favour of the home team. Assists for the first were Kiviranta and Rick Plant. Assists for the second were Kiviranta and McKenzie.

6:51pm

GOAL! Telford 3 Wildcats 3, 31.06

Wildcats are awarded a penalty shot after Michal Pavlu is called for hooking. Kostal dekes Ryan and the puck is in the net.

6:47pm

Apologies. 3G dump.

6:42pm

GOAL! Telford 3 Wildcats 2, 30.55

The home side get in front once more. A classic wraparound goal from Miika Kiviranta and he took it beautifully. Assist from Kuuluvainen.

6:35pm

Alex Symonds is robbed by Timo Kuuluvainen and the Telford man tries to smash past Lyle on the angle. It doesn't work.

6:33pm

A lame duck of a powerplay, to be honest. The best chance came when Sandvik squared for Harding, but he fluffed his effort.

6:33pm

PENALTY KILLED

6:32pm

6:31pm

CATS POWERPLAY

Marcus Maynard gets two minutes for interference.

6:30pm

That's no less than the Tigers deserve.

6:26pm

GOAL! Telford 2 Wildcats 2, 21.20

Immediately the home side make Swindon pay. Kruzik gets his second of the night from Nathan Salem and McKenzie. It could have been 3-1 Swindon but now it's 2-2.

6:25pm

Great chance for Hoog. He flicks exquisitely past Dan Scott on centre ice but is denied by the pad of Ryan, before having his follow-up blocked as well.

6:23pm

SECOND PERIOD UNDER WAY

6:21pm

Good shout.

6:20pm

I fancy there's a fair few more goals in this game. Hopefully not as many as last night. That would be a nightmare to keep up with.

6:18pm

EPL LATEST

Basingstoke 1 Sheffield 2, Manchester 4 Peterborough 1, Bracknell v Guildford - delayed face-off.

6:14pm

A healthy zamboni is doing a lovely job on the ice.

6:14pm

I have no idea how Swindon are winning this game, but they are, and that's all that matters.

6:13pm

Shades of last season when Swindon were ruled to have conceded at Peterborough with a second to play. This time the call went in favour of the Wildcats. It was a mighty tough one to make a decision on, I'll tell you that.

6:12pm

GOAL! Telford 1 Wildcats 2, 20.00

That is very controversial. Telford were convinced time was up but the referee says it wasn't and the visitors are 2-1 up. Sam Smith pulled back from behind the goal for Kostal to apply the simplest of low finishes past Ryan. The hosts are fuming but the goal stands.

6:08pm

Wildcats think they scored before time was up. Did they?

6:07pm

Oh my. Controversy.

6:06pm

Watt to Nell, clawed away by Ryan.

6:04pm

Don't forget to keep those tweets coming in using #wildcatslive and you can also use the comments section below.

6:04pm

Swindon are very fortunate to be level. They have been second-best in the opening 17 minutes.

6:02pm

6:01pm

Another scramble in front of Lyle. Swindon survive.

6:00pm

Adam Taylor flashes the puck across goal to James Smith but Lyle does just enough to smuggle it to safety. Looked a goal all the way.

5:59pm

Just under six minutes left of the first period.

5:58pm

5:58pm

McKenzie is found right through the middle but shoots straight at Lyle.

5:57pm

PENALTY KILLED

5:56pm

There's a lot to be said for a clear announcer, and Telford have got one. He does a great job.

5:55pm

5:55pm

TIGERS POWERPLAY

Nell binned for cross-checking.

5:53pm

GOAL! Telford 1 Wildcats 1, 8.42

Totally against the run of play, Nell fizzes a super pass across the blueline to Jonas Hoog on the right wing and the Swede bombs towards goal before lasering high past Ryan's left shoulder. The Swindon combo is as good as new. Ryan Watt also gets an assist.

5:49pm

5:48pm

Eight minutes gone. Swindon not in the game at all so far.

5:44pm

GOAL! Telford 1 Wildcats 0, 3.27, PP

And immediately the Tigers surge ahead seconds into the powerplay. Five seconds, to be exact. Jaroslav Kruzik is the man that gets it, with Scott McKenzie making the final pass.

5:42pm

5:42pm

TIGERS POWERPLAY

Aku Pekkarinen sits for holding.

5:41pm

Most of the pressure is from Telford so far.

5:37pm

Lyle and Declan Ryan in nets.

5:36pm

FIRST PERIOD UNDER WAY

5:35pm

We've had the anthem. Now it's huddle time.

5:34pm

If any of you were wondering, yes, netminder Stevie Lyle is playing for Swindon tonight.

5:32pm

OK, the players are being introduced. The ice is going to get the proper treatment at the end of the first period rather than right now, but has been deemed fit for the first 20 minutes.

5:31pm

Decent crowd here at Telford. Always impressed with the fans here. Make loads of noise and always get behind the team no matter what the score.

5:29pm

The zamboni is not working, it's been confirmed over the PA. The reserve zamboni is going to be used instead and we will get under way as soon as possible.

5:28pm

Well, we are supposed to be facing off in three minutes. I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen.

5:26pm

TIGERS ARE A DIFFERENT ANIMAL

Telford are no pushover, these days. With a number of fresh faces coming into the club in recent months, the Tigers will certainly not be cut adrift at the bottom of the EPL come the end of the campaign. In fact, although Tom Watkins' men are at the base of the league standings right now, they are just three points behind eighth-placed Swindon and only seven off Slough in fifth place. Food for thought.

5:24pm

Just to give some context to the zamboni issue, the driver pulled off a doughnut as he was facing the opposite way to the exit, seemingly in an effort to get it off the ice as soon as possible. There still seems to be some concern, from where I'm sitting.

5:22pm

So the poll below shows that so far that you lot are wildly confident of a Swindon win this evening. Only time will tell.

5:20pm

LINE-UP

This Is Wiltshire: Tomas Fojtik

I understand that Swindon will this evening have the same team that beat Basingstoke last night. So that means no Tomas Fojtik, who is still abroad.

5:19pm

Around 10 minutes from face-off, at least in principle.

5:19pm

The zamboni sounds a bit knackered. Now off the ice and officials frantically trying to sort out the problem.

5:17pm

It was a ripper, wasn't it?

5:17pm

The lights are off and the zamboni is pootling around in the darkness.

5:15pm

SAVED BY THE NELL

This Is Wiltshire: Aaron Nell

So, I'm sure we're all delighted that Nell is back in Swindon for the foreseeable future. He's an absolute goal machine at EPL level and will make a big difference this season. Here's why the 24-year-old decided to return for a third spell, in his own words.

“It’s something we’ve been thinking about for a little while,” said Nell.

“We’ve got a lot of players in Sheffield and I’m down the pecking order, so I haven’t been getting that much ice time.

“(Gaining confidence) is one of the biggest reasons I’m coming back and I will help the boys as much as I can and make sure we get in the play-offs, but if Sheffield get into injury trouble then I will be there for them.

“We’ve had a tough year and been very inconsistent. I don’t think anyone’s happy about how we’ve been all year, me included.

“But it’s been a good experience and I’ve learned a lot of stuff, and being on the ice every day has helped me improve.”

5:14pm

Vote away. Feeling optimistic after last night? #wildcatslive

5:13pm

Any minute now, a neat little poll will appear below...

5:12pm

5:11pm

Fingers crossed that 3G has had its tantrum and is now going to behave for the next few hours.

5:10pm

LAST NIGHT

Where on earth to start? The short version is that Swindon triumphed 7-5 over Basingstoke in a thriller at the Link Centre. Aaron Nell, newly-returned to Swindon on a two-way from Sheffield Steelers, scored a hat-trick on his 'debut', while another returnee, Lee Richardson, also appeared in a Wildcats shirt for the first time in 2013/14 following a short spell at Slough. The scorers were Nell (3), Adam Harding, Sam Smith, Jonas Hoog and Henri Sandvik. Oh, and netminder Stevie Lyle was also thrown out of the action for high-sticks in the second period. Phew.

5:08pm

The players are out and warming up.

5:04pm

Some 3G issues here at the moment. Bear with me.

5:01pm

Here we go then. I trust you all had a good Christmas and are now in the throes of planning your January detox/crash diet/overly optimistic exercise regime. Well, if I can just distract you from that for a moment, or maybe even a few hours, we've got an ice hockey game to play here. Telford versus Swindon. Enjoy.
