SWINDON WILDCATS: Moore can't wait for New Year's Day clash
SWINDON skipper Shane Moore couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2014 than a home clash with former club Bracknell Bees.
The two teams sit next to each other in the EPL table, Bracknell four points above Swindon having played three games more, and go head to head at the Link Centre tomorrow afternoon.
Moore is pleased to have the chance to close the gap on the first day of 2014 and is confident his side will be celebrating two more league points come Wednesday evening.
“They are just above us in the table but we have a couple of games in hand, so the difference is if they win they are six points clear of us and if we win we are in touching distance,” he said.
“It’s a fantastic way to start the new year for us and it’s one we have to seize with both hands.”
“This is a big game for us against a local rival so we should get a big crowd,” Moore said.
“There has also been a good rivalry between Swindon and Bracknell so it will be good to keep that going.”
Wildcats won both their meetings with Bracknell at the start of the season but Moore believes the Bees are in for an even tougher challenge this time around.
“We are a totally different side to the one who started the season so I expect us to kick on now and this is a great chance to do that,” he said.
“They have lost their coach and lost one of their imports so a few of their players are going to be a bit worried so we need to take advantage of that.
“There are players on both teams who have played for the other side so they will all be keen to beat their former clubs I’m sure.
“Overall we are a much better team than the one they played earlier in the season so I’m confident we can pick up a couple of points.
“The good thing about this league is that everyone can beat each other so we have to come ready to play otherwise we will get beaten.”
