CHIPPENHAM TOWN: Lee's on the mend

This Is Wiltshire: Lee Phillips Lee Phillips

LEE Phillips can’t wait to get back among the action for the Bluebirds and is hoping to make his comeback from injury in this weekend’s clash with St Neots Town.

The striker limped off during Chippenham’s defeat at AFC Totton on December 10 and has been sidelined with a hamstring injury ever since.

And Phillips says that he’s desperate to get back amongst the fray to add an experienced head to the Bluebirds line-up.

“It’s been so frustrating not being able to get out there and it’s also been difficult because we haven’t been able to train recently because of the weather,” he said.

“I went to see Scotty (Garraway, physio) on Monday but not training has meant I haven’t been able to get as much treatment as I’d like – last time, I came back too soon and ended up getting injured again.

“I sat down on the bench against Frome because with myself missing and Harvs (Iain Harvey) also out, we’ve got a pretty young side out there.

“I think that really just left the guys with Griff (Alan Griffin) and Tinds (Greg Tindle) to provide a bit of experience so I was down there to try and give a bit of vocal support, which we did’t really have out there.

“I’m looking to be back against St Neots and I can’t wait to get back to it.”

Phillips is confident that the revamped Bluebirds will start to gel under Mark Collier sooner, rather than later.

He added: “Mark’s spent a lot of time bringing in the players he wants and it’s obviously going to take time for everything to come together.

“But he’s brought in some good lads and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before we start to kick on.”

This weekend’s clash with St Neots kicks off a run of four successive home games.
