DEVIZES golfer Thomas Edwards, one of the winners of the Stars of Tomorrow competition organised by the Gazette & Herald and charity Bag4Sport Foundation, has spent his winnings wisely.

Edwards, 17, a sixth former at Devizes School, put the £500 he received as the Devizes area winner, towards a new set of clubs.

Father Steve said: “This money has enabled Thomas to purchase a set of fitted golf irons from the Tony Valentine Golf Centre, of Corsham. These will help towards improving his overall game and help him to move forward.

“Thomas had a very successful 2013 representing the North Wilts club in the junior and senior section, winning the Hills Junior competition and has been selected for the Wiltshire U18s golf squad, which will give him further exposure.”

Andy Trusler, director of Bag4Sport Foundation, said: “Seeing young sports stars such as Thomas flourishing is fantastic. We are very glad his winning cheque has been put to such a good use.”

The next fundraising event for Bag4Sport Foundation will be a fun Fitness Fiesta in the Corn Exchange, Devizes, from 9am-noon on January 18.

People of all ages and fitness levels can take part in half hour sessions. Turn up on the day or email foundation@bag4sport.co.uk for information.
