A 4-1 VICTORY for Matt Rusling’s Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves side over strugglers Bratton keeps their Division Two promotion challenge very much alive.

It was actually Bratton who had the better of the earlier exchanges and they took the lead on 20 minutes through Ryan Mead, but they villagers were pegged back almost immediatly when Steve Morris put Joe Walker through and he fired home to square things up.

Wanderers took the lead on 30 minutes after Will Browning rounded the keeper after being played in by Mike Cooksey.

Wanderers increased their lead in the second half when Ben Rogers headed down for Steve Jackson to rifle in for 3-1.

The scoring was completed by Mike Cooksey who got on the end of a Will Bayley cross and head home to seal an important win for Rusling’s promotion hopefuls.

Bradford United Reserves 5 Westbury Town 1

WITH their pitch at Culver Close unplayable, Bradford United Reserves went to great lengths to get an alternative pitch just up the road at Poulton playable for the visit of Westbury Town who, despite finishing with nine men following an injury to Jason Gee on 15 minutes which held the game up for 30 minutes and a further injury to Shaun Walker, played their part in a very sporting contest that the home team won 5-1.

Bradford led 1-0 at half time courtesy of a Tim Bruton goal and a second from Bruton doubled the lead early in the second half. Jimmy Meade scored goals three and four with Bradford fifth coming from Nick Gerrish.

Levi Wood's calm finish after rounding the keeper gave Westbury a deserved consolation.

Worton & Cheverell 1 Heytesbury 1

A WEEK after they suffered a 2-0 loss at Heytesbury, Paul Sperring’s Worton & Cheverell side made the trip back to Heytesbury Park for the return match having given up home advatage with their own pitch at the Lye unplayable.

Worton may not have got the result they wanted but a 1-1 draw against Kieron Edwards host went some way to making up for their loss a week earlier.

On a bobbly pitch that a Worton player decribed as playing on top of a Lion Bar it was the visitors who took the lead on three minutes through Jake Flower.

Heytesbury weren’t behind for long and they drew level on nine minutes via a headed effort from Bradley Edwards and that was how things remained to the final whistle.
