THERE was the closest of finishes in the inter-club match between Airsprung and Tisbury on Sunday on the Moulton Drive stretch of the Kennet & Avon Canal, writes COLIN SCULL.

Airsprung snatched victory with a team weight of 19 lb 6 oz to Tisbury’s 19 lb 3 oz.

Richard Whitmarsh, of Airsprung, was a clear individual winner with 13 lb of roach and skimmers.

Rob Trim, of Tisbury, was next with 6 lb 4 oz of roach and skimmers, followed by Dean Adams, of Airsprung, with 5 lb 4 oz.

Other placings: 4. Matt Bell Tisbury 3 lb 8 oz; 5. Steve Adamson Tisbury 3 lb 2 oz; 6. John Poll Tisbury 1 lb 14 oz.

THE final match in the Sensas Commercial House Winter League was fished on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Bathampton to Dundas where Preston Innovation Thatchers A took the Championship in the A Division with 38 points.

Maver Cadbury Angling gained promotion from the B Division with 27.5 points.

Nathanial Johnson, from Melksham, fishing for Preston Innovation Thatchers B won on the day with 14 lb 12 oz taken of skimmers.

Richard Whitmarsh, of Sensas Wilts Angling, was runner up with 14 lb 4 oz taken of skimmers, followed by Craig Pinker, of D & W Builders, with 8 lb 2 oz.

Other placings: 4. Richard Lacey Maver Bathampton Invincible 7 lb 1 oz; 5. Martin Rayet Premier Angling Keynsham 6 lb 12 oz 8 dm; 6. Tim Ford Preston Innovation Thatchers A 6 lb 12 oz.

WITH the river in flood, Sunday’s Wilts Angling Open match was switched to the Kings Arms Stretch of the Kennet & Avon Canal.

Kevin Rowles, from Devizes, won with 6 lb 12 oz of roach and skimmers , ahead of Rob Kepner, from Melksham, with 6 lb 1 oz 8 dm of roach and skimmers.

Alan Hiller, from Westbury, took 5 lb 2 oz of roach and skimmers for third.

Other placings: 4. Martin Barrett Trowbridge 4 lb 13 oz; 5. John Gardner Chippenham 4 lb 10 oz 8 dm; 6. Matt Skyrme Trowbridge 4 lb 9 oz.

THE Chippenham match was switched to Pockeridge Lakes where Alex Hyde, from Chippenham, won with 19 lb 8 oz of carp.

Steve Palmer, from Chippenham, was next with 18 lb 10 oz of carp and Andy Pratten, from Melksham, clinched third prize with 12 lb 1 oz of carp.

Other placings: Gary Dodson Calne 10 lb 10 oz; 5. Nick Lofy Calne 10 lb 3 oz; 6. Ian Liddell Chippenham 8 lb 15 oz.
