MINETY'S second string got back to winning ways with a hard-fought away victory in Dorset & Wilts Three North.

The game was played in appallingly wet and blustery conditions, Minety starting into the wind and finding it difficult to kick the ball out of their half.

At rucks and mauls, the visitors had the upper hand, but lineouts were a lottery, though Minety jumper Matt Chisholm made valiant efforts to steal what possession he could.

Devizes ran in two first half tries and converted one, but a brace of tries from Minety scrum-half Dellam Murray made it 12-10 at the break and kept the visitors in the game.

The tables were turned in the second half. The hosts managed a try into the wind, but with the weather at their backs, Minety added two. Nick Jones putting in blazing 30 metre sprint down the wing to score the first and Morgan Lightbody taking ball from a tapped penalty and crashing over from 15 metres.

Jones slotted both conversions to clinch the game for Minety.
