DUBAI DESERT CLASSIC: Howell one-over after first round

SWINDON'S David Howell finished his first round at the Dubai Desert Classic on one-over-par.

The Broome Manor pro, who missed the cut at the Qatar Masters last week, is tied-93rd at the time of writing.

Teeing off at the 10th, the 38-year-old was one-under after the opening nine but bogeys on the fourth and ninth set him back after the turn.

Howell is a former winner of the Classic having triumphed in 1999.
