WEST Wilts kept their promotion push on track by notching up one of their biggest victories of the season so far last weekend.
Wilts, who currently sit second in the Davis Wood League Conference North, thrashed bottom-of-the-pile Bristol & West 6-1 at The Ridings High School.
The visitors maintained possession well but struggled to create chances until they finally broke the deadlock 15 minutes in from a well-worked short corner.
Another short corner led to Wilts’ second goal of the afternoon before great link-up play allowed Dan Sheppard to fire home their third.
Callum Wolf continued the rout after half-time as he made it 4-0 before Sheppard set up Mark Brothers to slot home number five, with the Wilts man netting his second of the game shortly afterwards.
Bristol did nick a consolation goal late on but they were powerless to stop Wilts, who remain 15 points behind runaway league leaders City of Bath.
Meanwhile, West Wilts Ladies’ second team were in friendly action last weekend, handing their confidence a boost as they beat Shepton Mallet 7-2.
Sally Winter stole the show as she netted four times, while Katie Gibson, Lucy Diggins and Sharna Crowe were all on target.
