SEAN Lynn knows his Swindon side need to be at their best in every aspect of their game if they are to take anything from their clash with league leaders Oxford Harlequins tomorrow.

The Greenbridge Road side go into the clash on the back of an impressive 45-0 victory over Marlow in their last outing, although they have had their last two games postponed due to the wet weather, but face an Oxford side who routed them 79-7 when the two teams first met this season.

Lynn is hopeful this week’s clash will go ahead but knows his side need to up their game if they are to have a hope of picking up any points.

“I think the weather has been a bit better recently and it’s looking good,” he said. “We looked at the pitch on Tuesday night at training and it looked a lot better so I’m expecting the game to be on.

“We try to get a bit of a balance and if you look we picked up great results at the beginning of the year on the hard ground. We have to get a balance now and see how it goes.

“Oxford are strong up front and strong in behind, we know that, so we have to go out and have a crack at it and see what comes from it.

“They are top of the league on merit and are a very good side indeed so we need to play to our best and see what we can do.”

Lynn is keen to banish all memory of their big defeat earlier in the season and, although a number of regular players were missing that day, is refusing to make excuses as he prepares his team to try to put things right.

“We need to put it behind us because it’s not nice having that big a score put on you, but it happened and we need to get over it,” he said.

“There were a lot of issues that day but that’s no excuse and the scores gone now so we have no choice but to move on.

“We can only look at Saturday now and then the rest of the games this season and we have set ourselves some targets of games we want to win.

“Obviously we want to win our home games because that is very important to everyone at the club.”
