SWINDON lock Dave Cox is hoping to return from injury against Towcesterians tomorrow.

Cox injured his neck in Swindon’s last game against Oxford Harlequins and the game had to be prematurely ended as the sides waited for an ambulance.

Saturday’s fixture represent the second part of a tough back-to-back for Swindon. Harlequins top the South West One East and Towcesterians are second, both with hefty leads on Windsor in third.

“I’m hoping to be back for the game on Saturday, my neck is a bit sore. They beat us at home so we want to go and put that right up there.”

Swindon will have to go some to beat the Northants side away. Only Oxford and third placed Windsor have managed to come away with wins from Towcester. Swindon have won four and lost five on the road this term, including two away defeats in January.

Cox is relishing the trip and getting the crack going on the coach.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into it, we’ve got a coach on the way back which always adds a bit of spice.”

Swindon are looking to put together some from now into the end of the season. The bad weather has not only cancelled out many of Swindon’s fixtures but also negated their ball-in-hand style. With the pitches hopefully set to improve Swindon can get back to their running games.

As a key part of the Greenbridge Road side’s pack Cox thinks that it is key for him and his fellow forwards to provide a spingboard for Swindon’s backs to attack Towcesterians.

“Winning the battle up front is important. With the weather starting to turn it’s perfect for our backs to get running the ball and hurt them.”
