SECOND Division leaders Lacock FC kept their hopes of a unique quadruple alive on Saturday.

Already through to the semi-finals of the Knock Out Cup and quarter-finals of the Spring Cup, Joe Martin and Martin Bradfield’s side produced an excellent all-round performance to defeat first division leaders Freshford United 3-1 and book their meeting with White Horse FC in the last four of the Briken Motors & AM Print & Copy-sponsored A&B Cup.

Lacock, who beat Freshford 3-1 last term on the way to lifting the Knockout Cup, were certainly up for the game and took a first-half lead through Jake Marshall.

Simon Gray doubled the villagers lead in the second period before a second from Marshall ended Freshford’s interest in the competition for another season.

Freshford consolation from Mark Gerrish was certainly goal of the game, however his spectacular overhead finish 10 minutes from time was a case of too little, too late.

THIRD Division White Horse FC have their sights set on four pieces of silverware, but although an 8-0 victory over second division Westwood News put them safely through to the semi-finals of the A&B Cup the next couple of weeks could well make or break.

They have a difficult Knockout Cup quarter-final against Westbury United Reserves to look forward to which is followed by a trip to Fratello’s in the Wilts Junior Cup.

For the time being the Westbury-based side can bask in the glory of their win over Mark Hurkett’s side.

The hosts were far superior in every department as the went for the jugular once Dave Appleyard had given them the lead after just two minutes.

Paul Beavers made it 2-0 and Stuart Barber added number three before Appleyard took it to 4-0 with his second of the afternoon. A second for Beavers capped a first-half five-star showing for the White Horse men.

White Horse kept their foot firmly to the floor in the second half and they stretched their lead further when Kane Scott knocked in number six.

Barber scored his second to make it 7-0 and the scoring was completed by Pete Ayton whose goal took the hosts tally to eight.
