ASH Edenborough struck twice as Swindon Supermarine came from a goal behind to beat Taunton Town 4-1 at the Webbs Wood Stadium.

The Somerset outfit took the lead in the opening minute in their Southern League Division One South and West match through Chris Young.

However, that lead was short-lived as Josh Parsons played in Dan Hilder to level matters in the seventh minute.

Parsons fired the hosts into the two minutes later from 12 yards.

But then it was down to Edenborough.

Following some good link-up play between Hilder and Parsons, Marine’s top-scorer netted his 16th league of the campaign to make it 3-1.

Edenborough then put the game beyond doubt four minutes before the interval after running on to a good pass from his strike partner Parsons.

Meanwhile, Wootton Bassett Town secured a 1-0 victory over Cheltenham Saracens in the Hellenic League Premier Division at the Corinium Stadium.

Having had their game at their temporary home at the weekend called off, Jeff Roberts side were keen to be back in action.

But Bassett had to wait until the second half to claim all three posts against their Gloucestershire visitors. With less than a minute on clock after the interval Lee Stevens struck the game’s only goal.

New College crashed to a 5-1 defeat at Lydney Town in Division One West.

The Forest of Dean outfit stormed into a 3-0 lead before the youngsters pulled a goal back on 42 minutes.

Joe Hiscock played in Callum Shewry to reduced the arrears.

But the Gloucestershire were not to be outdone as they netted twice more.

New College assistant manager Matt Cosnett said: “We played well in patches and we can take some positives. “But we have never done here so we just need to pick ourselves up.”
