SWINDON Wildcats head coach Ryan Aldridge is delighted that the goals are now being shared around his side.

The Link Centre-based outfit scored eight goals last weekend with Finnish forward Henri Sandvik netting a hat-trick in the 5-2 victory at Basingstoke Bison.

That was followed by Aaron Nell’s double in the 3-0 success at Milton Keynes Lightning.

With tough games to come before the end of the campaign, starting with a visit from new league leaders Manchester Phoenix tomorrow and a trip to Bracknell Bees 24 hours later, Aldridge knows that he cannot just rely on Sandvik to supply the goals.

He said: “Until now we have only had one scoring line. But since Aaron has come back we have two.

“The goals are flying in for Henri and now Aaron has scored some good goals for us no doubt about it.”

Despite the fine double success last weekend, Nell insists Wildcats must keep their feet on ground.

The former Coventry Blaze star knows that the weekend wins will give the Link Centre side plenty of confidence.

He said: “It (the wins) gives us confidence, but we have to stay on an even keel.

“Every game that we play, we have to do it for 60 minutes - sometimes that has been our problem this season.

“Sometimes we have played well on the Saturday and then struggled on the Sunday, but last weekend we have played for a whole weekend and now we have to continue that.”

Despite being able to beat the best in the league, Wildcats have struggled for consistency.

The Great Britain international added: “If we knew why that was then hockey would be easy and we would be top of the league.

“Some nights you play great, the next you don’t, there are no easy games any more. We have nine games left including the play-offs because our goal is to win in Coventry.”

Hat-trick hero from the Basingstoke win Henri Sandvik believes that the double success at Bison and Lightning can only help Cats in the play-offs.

The Finnish forward said: “It is mentally important to get the wins like those. Everyone played very well - the goalkeeper Steve Lyle played unbelievably well.”
