SWINDON Wildcats head coach Ryan Aldridge is hoping to have several more players commit their futures to the club before the play-offs get into full swing.

With Jan Kostal already on board for the next campaign, as well as joining Aldridge on the coaching staff, the Link Centre side chief is hoping to find time to sit down with the former Czech Republic international to plot the club’s path for the new term.

However, with games coming thick and fast, the Welshman, whose side are looking to stretch their winning run to seven this weekend when they face Basingstoke Bison tomorrow and then travel to Slough Jets on Sunday, admits that it has been difficult to find the time.

“There are couple of guys that we getting close too, but the focus was to get Jan done,” Aldridge said.

“We need to try and find some time to sit down to talk and go through things about which direction we want to go.

“It is trying to find the time right now, all our focus has been on the games and the play-offs.

“I think that we will be talking to players in between the games, but the majority will get done after the play-offs, hopefully there will be a couple before.”

With their place in the play-offs already assured following Cats recent good run of form, Cats boss insists that their will be no let-up in the final weekend of the regular EPL campaign.

Following Wednesday’s thrilling 5-4 win at Sheffield Steeldogs, which saw Swindon come from 3-1 down, Cats have won their last five matches and Aldridge wants to make it a magnificent seven come Sunday evening.

“It would be lovely (to finish the regular season with seven wins in a row), but it is just about playing well,” he said.

“The way we have played the last four games before Wednesday has been great - but we didn’t do that at Sheffield and we need to get back to that.”

Saturday’s visit from Basingstoke, the team Cats beat 5-2 three weeks ago to begin their fantastic run, is Swindon’s last regular home game of the campaign.

And while Bison have missed out on the title, Manchester Phoenix claimed the trophy last weekend, Aldridge wants to insure that his team give the Link Centre faithful something to cheer about.

“It is our last home game and we want to finish on a high,” he said. “I think we want to go in (to the play-offs) on a winning way, if we win all our games it could change who we play.”
