WILTSHIRE showjumper Jessica Mendoza clinched a podium finish at the CSI 3* 1.50m Grand Prix in Arezzo, Italy, on Sunday.
The 17 year old, from Tockenham, was riding her mother Sarah’s 13 year-old brown mare Spirit T and finished third in a field of 57 competitors.
Thirteen went through to the jump off, with seven carrying through a single time fault to the second round.
Italy’s Guilia Martinenjo Marquet, with FD Funke vt Heike, took the title, stopping the clock in 57.99 seconds with a total of one time penalty from each round.
Second went to Russian rider Alexandr Belekhov, with Viceroy; finishing in 54 seconds with a time penalty in each of the two rounds.
Mendoza, who opted to take it steadier and go for a foot-perfect clear, achieved exactly that by coming through the finish line with all fences remaining untouched in a time of 56.21 seconds.
Two time penalties alongside her single from the first round saw her finish on a total of three penalties and in third place.
