SHRIVENHAM manager Sam Collier is hoping that his side can continue their solid performances against the Hellenic League Premier Division’s top teams.

The Barrington Park side make the journey to sixth placed Binfield tomorrow on the back of last night’s 4-1 win against basement boys Abingdon Town.

However, Shrivvy’s hosts come into this clash having won eight of their last 10 outings.

“It is another tough game for us,” Collier said. “They are a team who are in good form.

“But when we have played teams in the top six our attitude and application has been spot on.

“Now that we have got the Abingdon match out the way we can focus on this match.”

Collier insists that his side will be able to cope with the rigors of playing last night and again tomorrow.

“We are a relatively young side,” the player-manager said. “We didn’t train on the Tuesday night because of playing on the Thursday.

“But we are all fit so we should be able to cope playing Thursday and then again on the Saturday.”

Collier brought himself back into the squad for last night’s journey to Oxfordshire after a one-match ban and he will welcome back Dave Coleman for the trip to Berkshire after he was unavailable due to work commitments.

The Shrivvy chief will today be assessing his side in readiness for tomorrow after the game from last night.

“We couldn’t look beyond the Abingdon game,” he said. “Hopefully everyone is OK for Saturday.”

Collier is keen for his side to show more than they did against Abingdon United and Bracknell Town.

“Against Abingdon United I thought that we were a bit lethargic,” he said. “When we played Bracknell we just didn’t get going - we took our foot of the gas.

“But this is a match where no-one expects us to win so that takes the pressure off.

“Possibly that helps us a bit, we know that anything we get there will be a bonus.”

Meanwhile, Purton make the trip to Gloucester to face Tuffley Rovers.

Chris Pethick’s side currently sit in seventh place in Division One West, one place and five points behind their Glevum Park hosts.

Purton have not played since March 29 when they held Lydney Town to a 1-1, while John Hamilton’s Roverswill be reeking from their 5-1 defeat on Wednesday night against the Severnsiders.
