DUATHLON: Tim top of the class

ROYAL Wootton Bassett Hounds Tim Purvey won the third Bag4Sport Abbeyfield School Duathlon on Sunday.
Purvey completed the 22km bike ride sandwiched between two five kilometre runs in one hour 20 minutes and 35 seconds at the event, organised by Events Logic UK.
In second place was Adrian Giles, with Tim Richards third, while in the women’s race, Natalie Thomas , set a blistering pace on the first run section and maintained it throughout to win in a course record time of 1:25.46.
Sarah Smith and Sarah Alvis completed the podium places.
On a morning of events, Team Bath AC’s Josh Taylor won the 10k race in 25 minutes and 29 seconds.
Jonathan Griffin was second, with Nathan Collinson third, while Anna Fisher was first lady home in 43.04 , followed by Laura Britton and Julie Trudgen.
Sunday’s 22km cycling time trial was won by Andy Morgan in 39.46.
The two kilometre fun run for younger athletes went to early leader Charlie Haines in six minutes and 52 seconds. Alice Gates , was the first girl to finish in 8.07.
The linked charity for the Abbeyfield series was Gazette & Herald-backed cause Bag4Sport, who provide financial help to up and coming sports stars.
The next EventsLogic UK race will be the Oldbury White Horse Sprint Triathlon on May 4 with the Oldbury White Horse children's triathlon, starting from the Calne Leisure Centre, a day earlier.
