TYLER Lewis was the overall winner at Broome Manor Golf Club’s David Howell Classic last weekend.

Lewis, who plays his golf at Manor House for Castle Combe, carded a round of 66 playing off a handicap of 16, meaning he did just enough to pip Jon Jackson, also playing off 16, to the title by one shot. Overall third-place went to Gary Donarchie playing off seven who carded 68.

Kevin Phillips carded the lowest overall score, playing off two he finished on 70.

Alan Barlow was the best placed senior, who shot 71 off 14, best junior was Tom Law who ended on 72 off two, with Rhian Zhao the top lady carding 76 off 15.

The Tiny Tigers Classic was a great success, with the glorious weather allowing for some great golf from Broome’s under 12s and Super Tigers.

Howell was in attendance himself, presenting trophies and supporting the youngsters around the course. Broome professional Lee Hayward was delighted to see the former Ryder Cup star back at his club.

"Howler (David Howell) was great with all the kids playing making sure he acknowledged all that played and really give the juniors support and praise for all their efforts,” said Hayward.

“He went around the course and watched all the players and showed great enthusiasm towards Broome’s juniors. Put it this way, the kids all went home with big smiles and the buzz that one day that could be them."

Howell also kindly handed club shirt and jumper to one of our younger juniors, Cillian Roberts, who has qualified to represent Broome Manor in Scotland playing in the US kids finals.
