ALUN Rossiter has moved to ease Swindon Robins’ struggles at reserve by replacing Dan Greenwood with former British Under 16 champion Nathan Greaves.

Greenwood came in as a quick replacement after Darryl Ritchings’ suffered a serious injury during a crash on April 3, but has been well off the pace in all of his appearances for the Robins with his final outing coming last night as he scored one at Coventry.

Greaves, who was also named in the Newcastle team on Friday and rides for Cradley in the National League, will make his Swindon debut at Wolverhampton on Monday night and Rossiter is looking forward to seeing him in action after insisting a change was necessary.

“It just hasn’t happened for Dan, sadly, because he’s certainly given it his best shot, but we need to do something,” he said.

“Nathan’s very keen and raring to go, he’s an up and coming rider with bags of potential so hopefully he can come in and do a job for us.

“He’s been a youth champion and seems to have no fear when he’s out on the track, so that’s what we want.

“I’ve heard really good reports on him, especially with how he copes on the bigger tracks, so hopefully he can do well for us at home especially.”

Greaves, who only turned 16 in February and is still at high school, is excited to be able to get his top flight career started with the Robins.

“This is a really big opportunity for me and it’s one I really want to grab with both hands, so I can’t wait to get started,” he said.

“It came as a bit of a shock to me to be honest because I was only saying to my dad the other day that I needed to get some more meetings then this came up really quickly.

“It’s good being in the National League because I’ve learnt a lot there but to ride with Troy Batchelor and Peter Kildemand and to learn from them is really exciting.”
