Swindon Spitfires’ under 13s beat Melksham Town 5-0 in the Wiltshire League Cup Final to earn them a league and cup double.

The result was never really in doubt as Spitfires took the lead inside the first minute through Tamzin Davis, and doubled their advantage six minutes later through Lucy Scrannage.

After having two goals ruled out for offside, Spitfires’ third came from Gypsy Viveash in the 24th minutes, and Hollie Timbrell made it 4-0 three minutes later.

Viveash added her second five minutes after the break to complete the scoring.

The two sides meet again next weekend in the final league game, but with Spitfires already champions and Melksham runner-up the only thing at stake is Spitfires 100 per cent record this season.

Spitfires’ under 12s missed out on the Oxford Girls League championship after suffering their first defeat of the season to Oxford City, who pipped them to the title by one point.

The pacey Amanda Osorabo gave City the lead after an even start to the game, and Tegan Partlett made it 2-0 with a wonderfully placed free-kick.

With City now in the driving seat and Spitfires having to chase the game, Osorabo made it 3-0 in the second half.

Spitfires’ under 15s completed their fixtures on Wednesday with a 4-3 win at Kidlington that sees them finish the season as runners-up.

Kidlington, who needed the win to stand any chance of finishing second themselves, hit the post early on, but it was Spitfires who took the lead through Dani Granato in the 10th minute.

Two minutes later Kidlington equalised through Casey Brennan, and they took the lead just before the interval when Brennan slotted home her second.

After a tight opening few minutes of the second half Spitfires equalised when Meghan Larkin chipped the ball over the Kidlington defence for Poppy Cotterill to break free and slot past the advancing keeper.

Despite continued Kidlington pressure Spitfires pulled two goals clear when Amy Connaghan score two in as many minutes after getting in behind the home defence.

Kidlington fought back and made 4-3 with 5 minutes to go through Emily Young which resulted in a tense finish, but despite Kidlington hitting the post deep into injury time Spitfires hung on to earn their runner-up position.

The under 15s also won the Tower Hill tournament over the weekend, seeing off Tower Hill Red 2-0, Carterton Town 1-1, Tower Hill Blue 2-0, and Wantage 3-1 to claim the trophy.
