BECKHAMPTON trainer Roger Charlton has nominated the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot as a likely target for the improving Captain Cat.

The five-year-old was an impressive winner of the All-Weather Mile Championships Final at Lingfield on Good Friday.

He had been ante-post favourite for the Lincoln before that, but Charlton pulled him out on account of the soft ground.

"The Royal Hunt Cup is the plan, I think," said the Beckhampton trainer.

"The race the last day at Lingfield was just run to suit.

"He's a big horse - he's now just coming to himself - but we've always rated him highly.

"After Ascot we might look at stepping him up in class, he could also go back up in trip as he certainly stays 10 furlongs.

"We've got plenty of options, anyway."
