CORSHAM slipped to their first defeat of the Wadworth 6X West of England League Premier One season as they were defeated at home by Downend.

Put in to bat, the home side made a dreadful start as openers Toby Davies and Mike Coles fell for first-ball ducks.

Number three Ashur Morrison also fell cheaply before wicketkeeper Steve Bullen hit 50 off 82 balls.

Jonathan Parker added an unbeaten 68 from 86 deliveries before Corsham reached 205 all out in the 50th over, Ryhs Barrett taking 5-37.

Downend openers Christopher Binnie and Richard Pandya put on 40 for the first wicket but the 64 off 100 deliveries from number three Curtis Blakemore and unbeaten 48 from Craig Miles allowed the visitors to get past their target for the loss of four wickets.

Potterne's successfuly start to the Premier Two campaign continued with an emphatic 120-run victory over Minehead.

The home side amassed a mammoth 326-9 in their 50 overs, Ollie Smith scoring an unbeaten 56 off just 30 deliveries, including five sixes.

Vibhor Yadav added 46 from just 25 balls, while Ed Young scored 46 from 48 balls and skipper Neil Clark a run-a-ball 47.

Minehead's reply only got as far as the 36th over as they were dismissed for 206.

Bradley Martin (44) and Tom Wright (45) led the effort, but Sahan Wijerathne's 5-38 and Jake Roberts (3-34) did the damage.

Goatacre slipped to their second defeat in three matches as they lost out at Thornbury.

Having elected to bat, Brad Dawson's men were all out for 182 in 48 overs and the home side knocked off the runs for the loss of seven wickets.

In the Glos/Wilts Division, there was also defeat for Chippenham against Chipping Sodbury as the Wiltshire men paid the price for a poor batting performance.

Lee Ward's men were 86-6 at one stage but recovered slightly to post 149 all out, with Denson Narayan scoring 57 as Jon Toghill took 3-34.

Skipper Bryan Jater's unbeaten 77 helped to take Sodbury home for the loss of five wickets in the 42nd over, despite a couple of wickets from Ward.

Warminster lowered the colours of Wiltshire rivals Biddestone by 34 runs in their derby clash.

The home side were indebted to an unbroken partnership of 71 between David Bateman (60 not out) and Rory Cullinan (34 not out) for getting them to 194-8 from their 50 overs, Naeem Khan leading the bowling with 4-22.

Tom Davie's 3-25 caused problems for the reply, despite 33 from Biddestone skipper Jamie Mitchell, Marcus Brown and Pete Hickerton also taking two wickets apiece.

Burbage & Easton Royal underlined their desire to go one better than last year and clinch promotion as their bowlers did the damage in their Wiltshire Division clash against Nationwide House.

Adam Lavis took 5-20 and Darran Freegard 3-28 to dismiss House for 146, Jon Clarke scoring 62.

Burbage were 71-3 at one stages, but Dan Wootton scored an unbeaten 66 to see his side home inside 35 overs.

Max Andrews struck 87, then took four wickets as Great Bedwyn completed a 103-run win over Devizes.

The home side amassed 247-8 from their 50 overs, Andrews' knock coming off 63 balls. Richard Bosson added 51, with two wickets each for Ben McGowen and Tom Grant.

Devizes' innings ended in the 46th over with them all out for 144, John Dunford scoring 27, with Andrews taking 4-34 and Rob Palmer 2-20.

A third-wicket partnership of 161 between Dave Jenkins (84) and Williams Johnson (58) helped Marshfield to amass 275-8 against Calne.

Earlier, wicketkeeper James Williams had scored 67, while Thomas Brewer took 3-35 with Julian Kearney and Sean Adams claiming two each.

Calne came up short on 227 all out, Kearney scoring 85 and Tom Crosby adding 49 off 47.

Thomas Lamb took 4-27 and Will Pascall 3-54.

A third-wicket partnership of 172 between Dylan Bennie (105) and skipper Tom Norris (85) helped Marlborough amass 245-8 in their clash at Trowbridge.

Mike Reynolds, Luke Seymour and Scott Mitchell took two wickets each.

Wesley Marshall scored a half-century but the Trowbridge batting struggled until Sam Julyan added 69. However, they fell short on 179 all out.
