A 25-STRONG team from Chippenham’s Moonraker club took part in the recent Wiltshire Grades event.

Completing set exercises on the four pieces of gymnastics apparatus, a grade four, 14 achieved the required pass mark.

Holly Parker, Isabel Watt, Megan Bates and Beatrice Carrington were awarded distinctions, with passes for Ellie Quaey, Lauren Halliwell, Amelia Niker, Eva Falcone-Healy, Clara Black, Carys Jones, Gemma Skinner, Chloe Searle, Laura Findlay and Hermione Powel.

Moonraker gymnasts, eight of them debutants, took five of the top 10 positions in the overall scores.

At grade 3three, Emily Macklin-Day and Grace Langford achieved a pass, with Freya Gleed, Ellie Kimber and Sophie Townsend earning distinction.

Ella Stiles, Oriana Powell, Amelia Scott and Tegan Seed achieved distinctions at grade two, Stiles topping the overall scores, with Scott third and Powell fourth.

Moonraker’s sole grade one representative – Alice Bellamy – achieved distinction and sixth overall.

At Pre-Level, the hardest grade, Morgan Sanderson was awarded a pass and placed fourth, with Mabel Smaller awarded a participation certificate.

Moonrakers sent seven gymnasts to the first Liberty Gymnastics Club three-piece event in Frome, winning 25 medals.

In the seven year old age group Sophie Townsend landed gold medals on the vault and floor, along with bronze for her bar routine and was crowned all-aroun d age group champion.

Teigan Higgs placed third on the floor, fourth on the bars and fifth on vault earning the bronze medal all around in the ten year age group.

Teammate Millie Ambler was vault champion and took silver on bars, floor and all-around.

Lauren Searle took the silver medal behind Ambler on vault, but added golds for both the bars and floor on her way to the all-around crown.

Jenny Francklin and Grace Macklin-Day also cleaned up across all events sharing the titles between them in the 11-year-old section.

Macklin-Day won the vault and bars and all-around and taking silver behind Francklin on the floor, Francklin also taking vault silver and bars bronze.

In the 13+ age division, Morgan Sanderson took vault gold, silver for bars and fourth on the floor, which was enough to earn her the all-around silver medal.
