OCA DIVISION ONE: Conor shows the way for Shrivvy

RHYS Mills has told the rest of the Shrivenham batsmen to step up and show their ability as they look to build on last week’s ruthless display when Garsington visit The Rec this Saturday, writes James Harris.
Shrivenham vice-captain, Mills, admitted last week’s impressive display was largely down to Conor Taylor’s 163, but believes the rest of the batsmen can now use that innings to kick-start their seasons: “Conor’s knock last Saturday was superb but I feel it will only help towards improving confidence and consistency for all of the top six,” he said.
“Many of us aren’t out of second or third gear with the bat so far, myself included, but for the team to score that sort of total, I would hope, last Saturday will give us the belief to find our form too.”
Garsington have had an inconsistent start to their campaign with two wins, two defeats and two no results, but were one of only two sides to triumph over Shrivenham in 2013 and Mills remained wary of the threats this weekend’s opponents carry: “Regardless of how they have fared this season, whenever we have played them they always provide a stern test. So it would be very foolish to take anything for granted.
“If we let them get after us, it will most certainly be a very difficult day,” he added.
Alex Kill returns to action this Saturday replacing Rob Wycherley in Shrivenham’s only change from last week’s win.
