CORSHAM claimed an eye-catching victory for the second weekend on the trot to put themselves firmly in the battle for honours in Wadworth 6X West of England League Premier One.

Pete Dennett's men, who last week defeated reigning champions Bath, lowered the colours of much-fancied leaders Frocester at Station Road by 66 runs on Saturday.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, a second-wicket partnership of exactly 100 between Wiltshire skipper Mike Coles (67) and club captain Dennett (49) helped the home side to an encouraging start.

Later on, an eight-wicket stand of 52 between Ashur Morrision and James Arney (15 not out) took the home total to 273-8 from their 50 overs.

Morrison's 52 came in 38 balls and included three fours and three sixes. Nick Trainor took 3-43 for the Gloucestershire visitors and he also scored 58 in Frocester's reply.

But wickets fell regularly as Arney took 3-41 and there were two each for Paul Robbins (2-43) and Jon Parker (2-18). Despite late hitting from Frocester number 11 Tom Morris (31), the finished on 207 all out in the 45th over.

Goatacre claimed their third victory of the Premier Two campaign as they overcame hosts Glastonbury by seven runs.

A partnership of 76 between Rob Murphy (58) and Joe Tillyer (30) proved crucial in getting Goatacre, who had won the toss and elected to bat, up to 203 all out.

Kevin Iles had earlier hit 25 for the visitors, while Chris Kendall took 3-43 for Glastonbury, Ali Easton and Dan Williams claiming two victims each.

Easton hit 57 in the reply and shared a partnership of 61 with Williams (14), but despite an unbeaten 35 from Stephen Keates, Gastonbury ran out of overs as they closed on 196-7, Matt House and Iles taking two wickets apiece.

Potterne slipped to their first defeat of the season as Ilminster secured a five-wicket victory at The Grove.

Winning the toss and batting, Wiltshire's Ed Young (72) and wicketkeeper-opener James Hendrickson (26) put on 83 for the third wicket but the other home batsmen struggled as James Thompson took 4-22 and Harry Montacute 2-32 to end the innings on 194 in the 48th over.

Opener Louis Kraucamp's 92 off 58 balls underpinned the Ilminster reply as they raced to their target in 28 overs, Josh De Souza taking 2-7.

Biddestone's charge for honours in the Glos/Wilts Division continued as they put Tewkesbury to the sword by 15 runs.

Opting to bat, the hosts saw partnerships of 83 between opener Martin Sawyer (27) and Niel Bredenkamp (47) and 59 between Dwaine Perry (83) and Andy Flynn 23 move their score forward.

Perry and Stuart Kingwell (18) added 66 for the fifth wicket before late wickets saw Biddestone's innings finish on 260, David Vernon taking 6-35 for Tewkesbury.

The visitors suffered early losses in reply but the middle and later order came to the fore, Tom Allcoat scoring 95 and Vernon 29.

Perry took 3-44 and Chris Baker 3-47 as the away side were all out for 245.

Chippenham were unable to upset title-chasers Lechlade who claimed a five-wicket success at Hardenhuish Park.

Captain Lee Ward scored 58 in his side's 163-9 from 50 overs, wicketkeeper Billy Cookson adding 26.

Luke Sellers took 3-25 for the visitors, who cruised to their target in the 32nd over courtesy of knocks of Will Nichols (36) and Bradley Dial (47 not out).

Westbury came out on the wrong end of an 82-run defeat against hosts Swindon at the County Ground.

Swindon openers Marc Williamson (42) and Adam Tucker (43) put on 85 for the opening wicket and Adam Tribbick added 43 later on as Swindon reached 244-8 from their overs, Clark Evans taking 3-55 for Westbury.

Opener Jared McDonald scored 45 for Westbury but found partners scarce as wickets disappeared regularly.

Late knocks of 25 from Evans and Richard Oakley (24) bumped up the total but Westbury were dismissed in the 41st over for 162, Tucker taking 4-19.

Tom Weaver's half-century helped Warminster secure a three-wicket home victory over Gloucester City Winget at Sambourne Road.

John Powell took 3-26 and there were two wickets each for Marcus Brown and Tom Davie as Winget were all out for 205 in 47 overs, wicketkeeper Scott Montgomery scoring 40 and Tom Collinson 34.

Opener Weaver hit 51 and shared a partnership of 96 with Pete Hickerton (31) for the second wicket before Desmond Kruger (24) and Davie (22) weighed in to see their side to 209-7 in the 44th over.

Winsley ended Calne's good recent form with a comprehensive ten-wicket victory at Beversbrook in the Wiltshire Division.

Having been put in, Calne were dismissed for 156 in the 40th over as Kegan Smart took 5-45.

Skipper Dan Knight stood tall for the home side with 46, but Benjamin Strange's 3-24 and 2-16 from Josh Lewis ended their resistance.

Winsley openers Charlie Holton (58 not out) and Jeremy Smith (86 not out) got the job done by the 27th over, Holton's knock including 12 fours and Smith's 16 in 84 balls.

Burbage & Easton Royal kept up the pressure on leaders Great Bedwyn as they got home by 95 runs at Devizes.

Dan Wootton's 77 helped the visiting team to 229-8 from their 50 overs and Devizes were dismissed for 134 by the 41st over of the reply.

Great Bedwyn's 38-run success at home to Purton kept them at the head of affairs in the division.

They amassed 242-9 from 50 overs, openers John Palmer (66) and Chris Blundy (34) sharing a 72-run stand before Rob Palmer 72) joined his namesake and added 120 for the second wicket.

Deepak Ramani took 4-40 for Purton but, despite 84 from opener Aakarshit Gomel, the reply largely faltered.

Skipper Elliot Hill added 23 but Chris Lailey took 4-45 and there were two wickets each for Richard Bosson and Ashley Perry as Purton were dismissed on 204 in the 45th over.

Marshfield remained third in the standings as they narrowly edged Trowbridge by eight runs.

James Williams hit 80 as Mike Reynolds took 3-19 in Marshfield's 228 all out.

John Carroll's 56 and an unbeaten 53 underpinned the Trowbridge reply, which fell short on 220 all out, Tom Lamb taking 3-23 for Marshfield.

Nationwide House skipper Jon Clarke's unbeaten 128 from 148 balls and an unbeaten 96 from Nick Clark condemned Marlborough to a nine-wicket defeat in Swindon.

Earlier, Marlborough had amassed 233-5 from their 50 overs, Peter Day scoring 65 and Ben Head 30, but thetwo Clarkes saw House home in the 47th over.for their first win of the season.
