KAMLESH Shah’s 75 helped Purton 2nd XI steamroller their way to an eight-wicket win at home to Great Bedwyn.

Shah spanked 10 fours and a six, comfortably top scoring for his team, as Purton chased down Bedwyn’s modest target of 165.

Shah and fellow opener Chris Newman, who finished 32 not-out, put on 114 for the opening wicket as the PCG club hounded down the runs in just 23.4 overs.

Imran Ashraf (19) then David Allen (16*), along with Newman saw Purton home.

It was Ashraf who led the bowling for Purton, with 3-22 off his nine overs. Only Thomas Lauder (53*) and Akhil Malhotra (24) offered any resistance to the hosts. Adam Woolford took 2-50; with one wicket apiece from Joe Dunn, Tom Whittaker, Keegan Lane and a run out accounting for the rest of the Bedwyn batsmen.

Swindon 2nd XI were able to pick up a one-wicket victory on their travels at Bristol CC.

Cameron Baden’s impressively tight 3-30 from nine overs, ably supported by Santhosh Iyengar (2-43), Harrison Painter (2-48), kept Bristol to an attainable 212 all-out.

Swindon lost wickets at regular intervals as the hosts’ Gareth Lindop picked up 4-39, with John Baden (78) and Sean Parker’s (54) getting the bulk of the County Ground side’s runs.

However it came down to number five Paresh Porobo and last man Conor Cleary to see their side over the line.

Porobo was unbeaten with a crucial 26 and Cleary offered support with two.

Scores of over 50 from Lechlade 2nd XI’s David Novais (62) and Rizwan Hassan (57), as well as a 47 from Alastair Killham and Andy Macleod’s 36 looked to have set a good target for 235 for Marshfield.

Wayne Pascall’s unbeaten 104 saw the visitors cruise to a nine-wicket win.

Noel Braganca was the only Lechlade bowler to take a wicket, dismissing Pascall’s opening partner Alastair Christie for 46. Matt Watson ended 40 not-out as Marshfield got the runs in 36 overs.

Nationwide House 2nd XI picked up a seven-wicket win over Westbury.

Roger Thwaites led the way with the ball, taking 3-37 from nine overs.

Thomas Gasson (2-24) and Matthew Haynes (2-39) chipped in with Steve Lewis also taking a lone wicket as Nationwide restricted their hosts to 198-8.

In reply Adam Gordge hit six fours on his way to 58 as Nationwide chased down the total in 41.4 overs.

Other contributions came from Simon Marlow (42*), Jason Griffiths (31*) and opener Vikas Sidhu (27).

Marlborough 2nd XI picked up a four-wicket victory in a low scoring affair against Stroud.

Keith Daniels was the only player on either side to pass 50 as Stroud set their hosts 150 to win. Rich West (4-30) was the pick of the bowlers with support from Oliver Rawlngs (3-24).

Steve Jones (23) top scored for Marlborough in their innings as they chased down the runs in 40.1 overs.

Goatacre 2nd XI found themselves on the end of an 89-run defeat against Ashcott & Shapwick. Managing 232 in reply to their visitors’ mighty 321 first innings total.
