A SENSATIONAL 237-run partnership between brothers Jonathan and Nick Clarke ensured that Nationwide House scored a impressive nine-wicket win at home to Marlborough, who suffered their second successive defeat.

Batting first, Marlborough scored a useful-looking 233-5 off their 50 overs thanks to top-order contributions from Peter Day (65) and openers Ben Head (30) and Nick Crabbe (27).

Youngster James Richardson added an unbeaten 37 while skipper Tom Norris chipped in with 24.

Marlborough looked to be firmly in control of the game when Will Langton dismissed Nationwide opener Matthew Hyde for a duck.

However, the Clarke brothers Jonathan (128 not out) and Nick (96 not out) guided the Swindon side home.

Winsley ended Calne’s good recent form with a comprehensive ten-wicket victory at Beversbrook.

Having been put in, Calne were dismissed for 156 in the 40th over as Kegan Smart took 5-45.

Skipper Dan Knight stood tall for the home side with 46, but Benjamin Strange’s 3-24 and 2-16 from Josh Lewis ended their resistance.

Winsley openers Charlie Holton (58 not out) and Jeremy Smith (86 not out) got the job done by the 27th over, Holton’s knock including 12 fours and Smith’s 16 in 84 balls.

Burbage & Easton Royal kept up the pressure on leaders Great Bedwyn as they got home by 95 runs at Devizes.

Dan Wootton’s 77 helped the visiting team to 229-8 from their 50 overs and Devizes were dismissed for 134 by the 41st over of the reply.

Great Bedwyn’s 38-run success at home to Purton kept them at the head of affairs in the division.

They amassed 242-9 from 50 overs, openers John Palmer (66) and Chris Blundy (34) sharing a 72-run stand before Rob Palmer (72) joined his namesake and added 120 for the second wicket.

Deepak Ramani took 4-40 for Purton but, despite 84 from opener Aakarshit Gomel, the reply largely faltered.

Skipper Elliot Hill added 23 but Chris Lailey took 4-45 and there were two wickets each for Richard Bosson and Ashley Perry as Purton were dismissed on 204 in the 45th over.

Marshfield remained third in the standings as they narrowly edged Trowbridge by eight runs.

James Williams hit 80 as Mike Reynolds took 3-19 in Marshfield’s 228 all out.

John Carroll’s 56 and an unbeaten 53 underpinned the Trowbridge reply, which fell short on 220 all out, Tom Lamb taking 3-23 for Marshfield.
