CORSHAM’S fine form continued last weekend as the Station Road men notched up their third straight victory in the West of England Premier League Premier One.
Pete Dennett’s side, who had beaten high-flying Frocester and Bath in their last two outings, claimed a hat-trick of wins as they won by 35 runs at Bristol.
Wiltshire captain Mike Coles top-scored for the visitors with a knock of 72 whilst Ashur Morrison also chipped in with 68 as Corsham posted 230-6 after a rain-reduced 46 overs.
Tom Foley and Paul Robbins then both took two wickets apiece to hamper Bristol’s run chase, with the home side falling short as they only made 195-9 before time ran out.
In the Premier Two division, Goatacre slipped to a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Cheltenham, despite being able to call on the services of Hampshire all-rounder Liam Dawson.
Jack Haines (48) got Goatacre off to a fine start but after losing their first wicket for 63 runs, Brad Dawson’s men suffered a collapse as they were skittled for 148 in just 25 overs, with Cheltenham’s Liam Walker taking 4-34.
The visitors then cruised to 151-5 in just under 30 overs, with Stephen Kelly chipping in with 57.
Potterne’s trip to Thornbury was rained off.
Chippenham got back to winning ways in the Glos/Wilts Division with a four-wicket triumph at county rivals Westbury.
In a rain-reduced encounter, 2-22 from Chippenham’s George Reed helped restrict Westbury to 124-7 after 25 overs, despite Ben Whiting and Tom Cullen both hitting 33.
The hosts’ Richard Oakley attempted to launch a fightback as he took 3-27 but Arran Merryweather (30) helped guide Chippenham to 125-6 early in the 23rd over.
Biddestone saw their home clash with Chipping Sodbury abandoned after 37 overs, with Jamie Mitchell’s men having carved out a score of 162-6 thanks to Niel Bredenkamp’s knock of 73.
In the Wiltshire Division, Marlborough inflicted a second defeat of the season on title-chasing Marshfield as they claimed an 87-run victory at Savernake Forest.
Nick Crabbe starred with a knock of 85 for the home side, who posted a hearty 230-7 from their reduced 47 overs before Ben Head (3-27) and George Fox (3-29) turned the screw on Marshfield.
Dave Jenkins (47 not out) and Russell Lodge (42) did their best to hit back but the visitors were skittled for 143 in the 39th over.
League leaders Great Bedwyn had racked up 169-4 before their game at Trowbridge was abandoned just three overs into their hosts' innings whilst there was a miserable defeat for third-placed Burbage & Easton Royal at Purton.
Tom Wallbridge’s men went down by eight wickets, with Adam Lavis (24) and Sourish Mukherjhee (13) the only batsmen to reach double figures as they were all out for just 84, midway through the 29th over.
Aakarshit Gomel (59) then eased the home side to 85-2 in little over 13 overs.
Devizes have slipped to the bottom of the table after suffering a nine-wicket humbling at the hands of Calne.
Glen Robinson (4-22) and Julian Kearney (3-33) did the damage as Joe Wookey’s men were skittled for 117 early in the 34th over before Thomas Richards (50 not out) and Jordan Butler (47) helped Dan Knight’s Calne to 118-1 midway through the 21st over.
