SWINDON Robins’ Australian duo of Troy Batchelor and Dakota North have been named in their country’s World Cup squad.

The green and gold begin their campaign in event one in King’s Lynn on July 26, where they will take on Great Britain, USA and the winners of this Saturday’s qualifying round.

The Robins duo are joined in the 10-man squad by GP stars Chris Holder and Darcy Ward, Aussie Championship runner-up Jason Doyle, Davey Watt, Cameron Woodward, Josh Grajczonek, Rohan Tungate and Max Fricke Australia boss Mark Lemon is determined to make it without taking part in the Race Off at the ZKS Polonia Stadium on July 31.

He said: “Expectations are high, although we tread with caution as we haven’t lifted the Ove Fundin Trophy since the class of 2002.

“We need to win at Kings Lynn to get the direct route to the Final and avoid the cut throat Race Off. We have the fire power to win, but can’t afford any complacency. Team competition is always fierce when national pride is at stake.”

Swindon team manager Alun Rossiter will name his first squad since taking over as Great Britain boss tomorrow morning.
