MANAGER Dave Webb is looking forward to showing off everything that’s good about Swindon Supermarine when they host Swindon Town this afternoon (kick-off 3pm).
Marine host the traditional friendly between the two clubs, having spent much of the summer making improvements to their Webb’s Wood Stadium home, as well as working on the pitch.
Webb insisted the club are honoured to play host to the town’s professional team and he is hoping for a bumper crowd to come through the doors to see what they have to offer.
“It’s always a big one for us and a pleasure to play against Swindon Town,” he said.
“There has been so much effort and time put in to get the ground ready over the summer and the work to get the pitch in such a good way is really great.
“Everything’s in place to host Swindon Town now and I’m sure anyone who comes up to the club for the game will enjoy it.”
Having lost the likes of Ash Edenborough and Josh Parsons this summer, Webb knows he has a rebuilding job to do but is looking forward to watching his team take on the Robins’ professionals.
“This is a chance for the players to get things going and we’ve lost a few this summer, but we’re working really hard to try and fill those gaps,” he said.
“Our problem at the moment is that we also have a few injuries which makes things hard but the lads have had a good couple of weeks of preparation.
“The result isn’t important but this is a good chance for people to come and watch two local teams.
“We’ll have a decent team out and we will look to put in the best display we can.”
Marine will be missing Mark Flanagan, Eddie Stephens and Sam Morris through injury this afternoon.
