CHIPPENHAM Town picked up a 1-0 win over Shrivenham last night in their first pre-season friendly of the summer.

Mark Collier's men were put through their paces by their Hellenic League opponents, managed by the Bluebirds boss' son Sam, just across the Wiltshire-Oxfordshire border.

New signings Matt Coupe, Toby Osman, Ellis Dunton, Luke Ballinger, Omar Simpson and Conor McCormack were all invovled, with only Jordan Roberts and Greg Tindle missing from the Chippenham squad.

Shrivenham's Steve Robertson had a header ruled out for offside as the two sides couldn't be separated in the first 45 minutes before trialist Ben Pring, a former Cambridge United U18 player, who lives in Chippenham, nodded home from James Guthrie's deflected cross.

Midfielder Bryan Smith went close to doubling the Bluebirds' lead with a superb curling strike that crashed against the crossbar.

CHIPPENHAM TOWN: Kent Kauppinen, Jon Beeden (Ellis Dunton 45), Matt Coupe, Tyron Leigh (Shane Blackmore 45), Conor McCormack, Pete Monks (James Guthrie 45), Iain Harvey (Bryan Smith 45), Toby Osman (Callum Wright 45), Luke Ballinger (Ben Pring 45), Lee Phillips (Alan Griffin 45), Omar Simpson.
