AVON Valley’s Mike Rose and Kiersty Barnett were first male and first female at the recent Clermont Waterfront Parkrun with times of 18:13 and 22:17 respectively.

Elsewhere Mikey Bryant recorded a 18:42 to finish fifth at the Beeston Parkrun event recently, while Peter Jeffries completed Bushy event in 24:14. Adele Cooper was in action at both the Swindon event (25:31) and the ‘Back in a Flash’ 5k event (25:29).

Running an event in the North East, Gordon Russell completed the Hull event in 27:11, while more locally Melksham’s Hayley Southgate ran a course PB at Chippenham, finishing in 26:03. Southwick Parkrun has yielded new PBs this month including: Antony Mills, Simon Evans, Mark Cooper, Natalie Mclaren, Sarah Fenby, Andrew Sharratt, Robert Warner, Mike Rose, Will Holland, Alan Spiers, and Kerry Sunderland.

At the Chippenham ‘Longest Day’ 10k the six Avon Valley runners were led home by ninth placed Mike Rose, followed by Thomas Coney, Kiersty Barnett, Steven Cade, Sharon Anderson and Richard Hudson.

Members also took part in the Broadtown five mile road race, scoring maximum points in the Wiltshire Road Race League as well as collecting four prizes. Joby Hobbs led Avon home in third place with Robin-Mark Schols collecting the first prize in the Supervet category. Fiona Price and Jill Westwood collected prizes in their age categories, with Fiona scoring a new five mile PB time.

The midweek Great Chalfield 10k saw the club out in strength again with nineteen members on the start line. Thomas Coney finished in sixth place with Schols just one minute behind in 10th. Kate Hails was third-placed lady while Ali Atkinson took the first in the FV40 trophy. Helen Maria also succeeded in scoring herself a new PB for the distance.

The club also had three teams taking part in the Cotswold relay, the ten stage 100 mile relay following the old Cotswold way. The senior men’s team, finished in eighth place with the mixed team finishing in a total time of just under 16 ½ hours in 49th place, while the ladies team completed 40 minutes later.
