GOATACRE kept their hopes of honours in Premier Two alive as they claimed a 120-run triumph over bottom side Knowle in a match reduced to 30 overs a side.

With the first team’s home clash against Minehead cancelled, Toby Horton hit an unbeaten 128 and Brad Dawson added 55 as Goatacre amassed 245-4 after being put into bat.

Knowle’s reply was never in the hunt and they were eventually dismissed for just 125, first team skipper Dawson taking 4-23.

Unbeaten Potterne maintained their stranglehold on the Glos/Wilts Division as they cruised to a 10-wicket success over relegation-threatened Chippenham.

Put into bat, hosts Chippenham laboured to 153 all out in 37.3 overs, Richard Harrison’s unbeaten 87 the only innings of note.

Stan Alsop took 5-19 for the visitors, while there were two wickets each for Peter Mathias and Aaron Kyte.

Openers Jordan Rose (76 not out in 48 balls) and Clyde Williams (57 not out in 61) raced to the target in just 17 overs.

Potterne’s nearest pursuers, Chipping Sodbury, stayed in the hunt by defeating Trowbridge by four wickets.

Meanwhile, Swindon, Nationwide House, Lechlade and Purton all saw their scheduled matches fall victim to the torrential rain which fell early on Saturday morning.
