PAUL Shanley doesn’t expect to forget Bradford Town’s historic first-ever FA Cup victory anytime soon.

Bradford only entered the country’s most-famous cup competition for the first time in the 2010-11 season but after crashing out in the opening extra preliminary round for the last three seasons, the Trowbridge Road men finally progressed for the first time last weekend with a dramatic 4-3 win over Sydenhams League Moneyfields.

“It definitely wasn’t boring – when the game was 1-1 at half-time, you never expected what was coming,” said Bradford manager Shanley.

“The second half was just end-to-end and it was ‘we score, you score’ for a long time until Jack Hopper popped up with the winner with ten minutes to go.

“It’s a historic victory for the club because we’ve always gone out in the first round. £1,500 is a huge early-season bonus for any club at our level.

“Moneyfields were a very good side too and it’s given us a lot of confidence going in to Saturday.”

Dan King netted twice in Bradford’s seven-goal thriller whilst Dan Shanley was also on target before Jack Hopper netted the winning goal with around ten minutes remaining.

Shanley’s men make the trip to Gillingham Town this weekend but will be without striker Sam Jordan, who is away on holiday.

Defender Tom Evans is serving the final game of his suspension but Bradford do welcome back Sean Percival and Mark Wall, who were both unavailable for last weekend’s FA Cup clash.
