DEVIZES held out for a victory in their South West One East derby after Trowbridge piled on the pressure in the second half to earn their first two bonus points of the season.

The home side started the stronger but Trowbridge's pack got into the game, although they conceded a penalty that the home side's Rory Brown landed.

Brown then crossed for the opening try, which he converted himself, to leave his side 10 points to the good in just 10 minutes.

Devizes' attacks continued to make life difficult for the visitors and, from another tap and go penalty, the Saddlebacks drove infield and broke through, second row Charlie Paget touching fown near the posts for a 15-0 half time lead.

Trowbridge started the second half at pace and the response started to pay off as Lloyd Davis found himself clear and in behind the home defence to touch down for the visitors' first score that he converted himself.

Devizes fought back, stretching the Trowbridge defence again until Paget touched down for his second and Brown converted.

The home side increased the lead further with a try from flanker Rhys Harries to lead 27-7.

Trowbridge though were not done, powerful play fom new boy Shai Bonnick on his first-team debut forcing the home side on to the back foot.

From a powerful run from centre Joe Knight, second row Mark Durant scored near the posts, Davis adding the extras.

Back came Devizes, full-back Luke Rapson joining his backs to score out wide but Trowbridge upped their attacks again.

The visitors' forwards drove their way across the line, Matt Howard getting the touch down and Davis kicking the conversion.

A carbon copy of the previous try saw Howard get his second, Davis again adding the conversion but Devizes saw out the win.
