THERE was plenty to be positive about for Warminster Town manager Derek Graham despite watching his side lose 1-0 away to Chard on Tuesday night.

Warminster also lost to Keynsham Town on Saturday by the same scoreline but according to Graham the two performances were a world apart.

Town, who were without all three of their strikers for the clash, started brightly and had plenty of chances to score in the first half but failed to take them.

After the break the home side had a period of intense pressure which resulted in former Bristol Rovers player Dave Gilroy picking up the ball up just outside the area and after a great bit of skill he was able to score the only goal of the game.

Warminster pushed for an equaliser towards the end of the game but to no avail.

“To be fair we played really well and it was probably our best performance of the season we just couldn’t score,” said Graham.

“It was one of those games where you knew one goal was going to win it.

“They had a five minute spell in the second half where they were pushing and I knew if we didn’t do well they were going to score.

“We pushed for the equaliser at the end and they couldn’t get out of their own halve but with all three strikers out we couldn’t score.

“After next weekend we should have two of our three strikers back in action and hopefully that will make a big difference.

“It is funny because I am not disappointed despite losing 1-0 because there is a lot to take from the game.”
