ROBINS number one Peter Kildemand claimed the runners-up spot in speedway's European Championship after last night's final round in Poland.

Kildemand, who could still overhaul series leader Emil Sayfutdinov going into the final meeting at Czestochowa, finished third on the evening to ensure he will again contest the series next year.

The Danish ace won his first three of his first four heats, but Russian Sayfutdinov was unbeaten throughout and the Swindon man's challenge for the title ended when he fell and was excluded in the 18th heat while up against his rival.

Kildemand subsequently came through his semi final before finishing behind on-the-night winner Grigorij Laguta and countryman Nicki Pedersen in the final.

The Robins man rides in Lonigo, Italy, this evening in the GP Challenge and can book a place in the 2015 Grand Prix Championship by finishing in the top three.
