IT was a goal feast at the County Ground as Swindon got back to winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Sheffield United.

It was a good response from the Town players after their mid-week draw at home to Oldham. Especially having to rally after a rapid pair of United goals.

Swindon started the game brightly and Iraq international Yaser Kasim almost gave the home side the lead after just four minutes.

After a foul on Michael Smith, Kasim saw his right-footed effort just clip the top of the cross-bar.

Town continued to create chances and found themselves in front when Michael Smith got back to scoring ways following a fantastic run from Louis Thompson through midfield.

Town continued to press Sheffield United and the visitors really struggled to get into the game.

Swindon continued to create chances but both Massimo Luongo and Jon Obika saw good opportunities go begging before the half.

The one down point was Kasim picking up a booking mid-way through the half which will see him miss the mid-week trip to Newport.

Towards the end of the half Sheffield United were able to break up the play better and Stefan Scougall forced Wes Foderingham into a great reaction save from just a couple of yards out before the break.

Sheffield United came out in the second half and looked to continue where they left off.

That quickly changed though when Luongo charged into the box, seven minutes after the re-start, and was brought down in the box by Neill.

Smith, right footed, put the resulting penalty in low along the floor to the right-hand side of the goal keeper and to double his tally.

Swindon extended their lead five minutes later when a ball from Brad Smith made it through the penalty area from to Obika who calmly side foots the ball into the bottom corner.

That is four goals in three games now for him since his return to the County Ground.

There was panic amongst the Swindon ranks when two quick goals from the visitors got them back into the game.

The first came from Marc Mcnulty when he backed up into the six yard box and turned to chip the ball over Foderingham's head.

The second came when a cross from the left was tipped on by an out-stretched Foderingham but the ball fell to Ben Davies, at the back post, who volleyed home.

Calm was restored at the County Ground through Andy Williams, after more good work from Brad Smith, with ten minutes to go.

The best goal of the game came three minutes from the end when Louis Thompson fired in from the edge of the box to wrap up all three points.

It was a nerve steadying victory for Town who dominated the game apart from a shaky 12 minute spell.
