KC GLOBE manager Terry Offer said that his side went into their Swindon Sunday Football League Knockout Cup with last year’s double winners AFC Gas without fear.

The two sides met in last season’s semi-final with the eventual winners defeating the then Division Three outfit.

With five minutes left on the clock on Sunday, it looked as if Gas were going to progress until Highworth Town hotshot TJ Bohane struck to make it 3-3.

Then in the final minute of the game, Daniel Mason rose to head home Johann Sutton’s corner and put the Globe spinning into the next round.

Gas opened the scoring at the Elms before Carl Pike levelled and then Mark Harper added a second for Globe.

The visitors regained the lead with five minutes remaining before Globe’s heroes struck.

“It was a great win,” Offer said. “Maybe a draw would have been a fair result but overall we managed to nick it.

“After them beating us last year we owed them one.”

Offer, who has seen his side win their opening two games in Division Two, said that the club fancied their chances when they received the draw.

“We if we can get our best side out we can match anyone in the league,” Offer added.

“So when we saw that we were getting Gas again we fancied our chances.”

Elsewhere in the Knockout Cup, Division Four outfit DH Fitness needed extra-time to see off Division Six Cricklade Park Rangers.

The two sides were locked at 5-5 following 90 minutes before DH showed their fitness to win 10-6 in extra time.

Division Six team County Ground pulled off a shock in the Chairman’s Trophy when they stunned Division Three outfit Tap and Barrell.

After extra-time the two teams were tied 3-3 with the County Ground men winning the penalty shootout 5-4.

But the biggest upset went to Rosier Rovers of Division Six as they defeat Division One outfit Wheatsheaf 6-3.
