SWINDON Robins chief Alun Rossiter says that his side have a one-track mind as they go looking to clinch a place in the Elite League Grand final next week.

The Robins have an eight-point deficit to overturn at the Abbey Stadium next Monday after losing 49-41 to the Coventry Bees in the first leg of their play-off semi final last night.

Rossiter’s men are still within touching distance of their rivals despite suffering a number of crashes during Monday night’s showdown and the Swindon boss was in no doubt that the heavy Brandon track played a big part in his team’s defeat.

“I just think in fairness, the track really played its part (last night). It was a bit of a one-line pony track and it didn’t bode for good racing,” Rossiter told the Advertiser.

“It was just really heavy, which suited a couple of the guys that really have no throttle skill.

“We’ll just have (our track) as we normally have it and just give it our best shot. We should hold no fears because we ride our own track really well.

“There were a few crashes and a couple of mistakes, and we talked about what to do. A couple of the boys made mistakes and their heads weren’t really on the game tonight because of the track.

“It’s gone now – it’s eight points and it’s down to us to get ten points at Swindon.”
