SIMON Gardner admits that Calne Town’s struggles to turn stalemates into victories has been a source of frustration in recent weeks.

The Lilywhites, who are the Toolstation League First Division’s draw specialists with seven on the board already, found themselves 2-0 down going into half-time at Keynsham Town last weekend.

But after a grilling from the Calne management, Gardner’s men hit back to earn a point thanks to goals from Aaron Hopkins and Glenn Armstrong.

“We were terrible in the first 45 minutes again – we didn’t turn up at all and there were some choice words at half-time,” said the Calne manager.

“Some of the performances weren’t good enough for a Calne shirt but we changed a few things around. Adam Shipman, who’s joined us from Chippenham Park, came off the bench and did well and we got ourselves back into the game.

“But, and no disrespect to Keynsham, we should have won the game.

“It has been frustrating that we just haven’t had the consistency to pick up three points more reguarly this season.”
