FAIRFORD Town boss Gareth Davies is hoping his side can build on last weekend’s strong showing when they take on Lydney this weekend.

The Cinder Lane side have won three on the bounce after completing a 5-0 whitewash of Tytherington Rocks last Saturday.

Davies’ side face a stern test this weekend, however when they host the second-placed Forest of Dean side.

“It’s another big one, they beat Longlevens on (last) Saturday,” said Davies.

“The way results have gone, I am kind of looking forward to playing Lydney now, a couple of weeks ago I wouldn’t have said that.

“Now I think it will be interesting to see how far we have come.

“You’ve got to beat the sides around us and we have done in the last couple of games, but it will certainly be a big test for us on Saturday.

“(Of) the side that we put together, some of them played together when we played at Malmesbury last year.

“Obviously you had six or seven lads that were at Fairford last year, so it was never going to happen overnight.

“It took the Milton game I think, for the players to gel and get to know how the players play and I think it is finally starting to take place.

“It has taken a little longer than I would have hoped but it is now looking good.”

Elsewhere, Justin Miller’s Purton side play host to Wantage Town Resverves, while New College face the daunting prospect of travelling to top of the league Gloucester-based side Longlevens.
