SWINDON Supermarine signed Forest Green Academy left-back Scott Bevan on loan ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Bashley.

The 18-year-old former Bristol City and Swindon Town youth player joins Forest Green team-mates Dan Martin and Cameron Pirie at the Webb’s Wood Stadium.

“He trained on Thursday night and did very well so hopefully he’ll be able to come straight into the team tomorrow,” said Marine manager Dave Webb.

“He’s a left-sided player and they rate him very highly at Forest Green. I have to say thanks to Scotty Bartlett (Forest Green Academy boss) for helping us in our hour of need and we’ve got a good relationship with Forest Green now, which is good news.

“It means that I’ve just about got a squad of 14 for tomorrow’s game and I never thought I’d say this but it will be nice to finally have too many to pick from – we may finally have some competition for places soon.

“We’re also trying to sign another defender and that may be completed tomorrow but it’s not done and dusted yet.”

Meanwhile, Marine have bolstered their injury-hit squad by registering five New College youngsters.

Defenders Josh Croucher and Ryan Morgan, midfielders Jack Goddard and Max Slinn, and striker Jordan Wilkins all play for College’s Hellenic League side, who play their home games at the Webb’s Wood, and are now dual-registered after signing Evo-Stik League Southern forms.

Webb's men have been drawn at home to Shortwood United in the third round of the Red Insure Cup.

Marine, who claimed a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory at Yate Town in the previous round, are set to host league rivals Shortwood on Tuesday January 6.
