MARLBOROUGH roared back to Davis Wood League Central One action in style as they thrashed bottom side Minehead 6-2.

The visitors started the game poorly, gifting Minehead early possession and territory.

The tide was soon turned however and Marlborough started to hit their stride with accurate quick passing.

Hamish Fyfe scored his first two goals in quick succession after some excellent, link-up play with fellow striker Matt Way.

Minehead pulled a goal back in the dying seconds of the first half to leave the game finely poised.

The second half began with Marlborough completely dominant in all aspects of the game.

They created several chances and went further ahead when Matt Way crushed the ball in to the bottom right-hand corner.

Marlborough continued their dominance and captain Rich Holman took advantage from a short-corner rebound to score.

They furthered their lead through Will Radnedge who blasted his shot over the onrushing Minehead goalkeeper from a tight angle. and Anil Sud made it six in the last minute.

Chippenham went top of the table as they defeated Firebrands B 2-1.

Devizes slipped further off the pace in Conference North as they lost out 2-1 in their mid-table battle with Leominster.

The visitors were left frustrated as they could not break down a strong Leominster defence.

Despite dominating most of the first half, Leominster hit on the break to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

The second half proved a similar story but Leominster took a two-goal advantage with an excellent deflection.

Devizes upped the intensity and pulled one back through a Russ McQuillan strike.

Comeback is not enough

MARLBOROUGH ladies made a bad start to their West Clubs League Premier Division 2A clash at Hereford.

The home side grabbed the lead with a couple of early goals, courtesy of a break and then a strike from a short corner before adding a third before the interval.

Marlborough rallied and began the second half much the better team.

Chances which eventually paid off with a goal back through Catherine Manley, then another from Vikki Hill, but Hereford added two more before the end.
